Milla Shih Djurovic
Voice & Piano Instructor
Milla is a passionate musician with a love for education. Music has been a constant in their life; they began with ballet and piano, eventually branching out to choir, vocal jazz, and percussion. Throughout high school, they developed their teaching skills by leading weekly choral sectionals, daily vocal jazz rehearsals, and their school’s Concert Choir as Student Conductor. Milla further fortified their leadership skills by leading Piedmont Hills High School’s Choir Council, where they managed and collaborated with a team of 16 members to plan all the logistical aspects of choral performances and events.

Milla has also had the privilege of being part of multiple honor choir ensembles, including the California Choral Directors Association’s Coastal Regional Honor Choir (3 years), the California All-State Music Education Conference Honor Choir (2 years), and San Jose State University’s Honor Choir (3 years). In these choirs, they drew inspiration from the various choral conductors and brought back valuable lessons on musicianship to their school’s ensembles.

Overall, Milla strives to be an adaptable and compassionate educator that works to tailor lessons to their students’ personal needs and goals. They focus on ensuring their peers and students build a strong foundational understanding of notes, rhythms, technique, and theory before addressing dynamics, phrasing, and other aspects of musicality. They believe that anyone can become a great musician through hard work and dedication, so they do their best to encourage students to persist through the hardships that come with learning an art. Whether they are teaching voice or piano, Milla makes sure to foster a positive learning environment, as well as reinforce a can-do attitude and growth mindset in their students.

Milla is currently studying at SJSU, beginning their journey to obtaining a BA in Music Education (Choral).
